We hope you are well and looking forward to the second Inner Tara Sadhana retreat at Gomde Pyrenees! Here follow some details about the retreat.
About the Inner Tara sadhana
The Inner Tara sadhana is a very unique and rare practice that stems from the Chokgyur Lingpa termas. It is an intensive retreat which we recommend for participants who already have some experience with sadhana practice. For the Tara's Triple Excellence practitioners, it will be an extraordinary opportunity to complete or become familiar with the inner Sadhana, the second practice of the Third Excellence.
Requirements and schedule
Since this retreat will be very rigorous, we advise that people be cautious about joining the retreat if they have not had experience with sadhanas, recitations, and/or long meditation sessions. The schedule of the retreat will be demanding, as the daily sessions begin very early in the morning and stop late in the evening.
We would like to make the retreat closed; no coming or going. If for some reason you cannot join for the entire time, but wish to be part of this retreat, please send an application to registration@gomde.fr, making note of your circumstances. However, we highly recommend that participants attend the entire retreat. Since accommodation is limited we will give priority to those who do the entire retreat.
Please note that to be eligible for this retreat, you will need to have received the Inner Tara sadhana empowerment from Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche. For example, this empowerment has been granted by Rinpoche at Gomde Pyrenees during the 7-10 July 2017 seminar.
Retreat leader and Teacher
Lama Tenzin Sangpo teaches meditation around the world in Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche’s dharma centers. Before he began his teaching tours, Lama Tenzin was the chant leader and one of the most senior monks in the Ka-Nying monastery in Nepal where he also completed the traditional three-year retreat.
Translation
Lama Tenzin's teachings will be translated into English by translator Heidi Köppl.
Accommodation and meals
We will be staying at Gomde Pyrenees during the time of our retreat which offers individual rooms, huts and tipis at our disposal. If you are interested in joining make sure to register very quickly, since there are only a limited amount of rooms available.
We will have three daily meals and an afternoon tea break. A cook will spoil us with simple, delicious vegetarian food. The diet will follow the Kriya tantra instructions avoiding meat, alcohol, eggs, garlic and onions. If you have any food allergies or special needs, please inform us, so we can make the necessary arrangements.
Schedule
We are looking forward to welcoming you on 8 September from 1:30- 3:30 p.m. for onsite registration and room distribution. After a short tea break at 4-4:30 p.m., we will gather in the teaching hall for a welcome talk and an introduction to the place and the retreat program. Our first teaching session with Lama Tenzin will start after dinner.
The retreat will end on 28 September after lunch.
What to bring?
General:
Towel (showers and hot water are available).
Warm clothes.
Torch or head lamp.
Thermos if you would like to take some hot water to your room.
Sunscreen, insect repellent, raincoat, good shoes and a water bottle
For the meditation sessions:
Any medicines and personal items you may need or might need for the entire three weeks. Because of Gomde’s remote location it is not possible for helpers to run errands for participants
If you have them, bring your dorje & bell, and mala.
Khatags to offer on the last day, if you would like to.
Set up for a small personal shrine for your room (apologies that gomde Pyrenees does not have a ratna shop to buy or borrow items from).
The practice texts will be distributed on the first day of the retreat.
The daily schedule will be announced on the first day of the retreat.
Prices and Payment
The fee includes all meals, accommodation and the practicalities of running the seminar. Gomde Pyrenees is keeping the cost for the retreat very low, because we want to make this retreat affordable for all. If you have already decided to come, register soon as you can enjoy a reduced price until the 1st of August. After that date, the prices will increase by 20%.
The retreat fees are: 690€ for camping, 790€ for tipi, 890€ for indoor rooms with shared bath, 890 € for outdoor cabins with shared composting toilet, and 1190 € for indoor room with attached bath.
Registration will be open until June 13th. Your place in the retreat is secured with payment of a 250€ deposit. The remainder of the balance must be paid between July 1st and July 31st. If the retreat is full and you would like to be placed on a waiting list please email registration@gomde.fr
Important note: Lama Tenzin and his translator Heidi are paid by your donations only. In addition to the retreat fee, we recommend that each participant offers a minimum donation to Lama Tenzin of 100 Euro and to the translator 60 Euro. At the end of the retreat you will have the opportunity to give your donation for their teachings directly to them.
Retreat helpers needed
We urgently need retreat helpers in order for this retreat to run smoothly. We specifically require one or two cooks and a housekeeping assistant. As a helper you will stay free of charge at Gomde during the retreat, and can attend at least one session a day. As Milarepa said, the yogi in retreat and the one serving him will attain enlightenment at the same time. Therefore, please do not underestimate the benefits of helping and supporting those doing sincere and authentic practice. Financial sustainability of the Dharma Center
Having gone through extensive renovations, Gomde is well on its way of becoming the center that Rinpoche has envisioned when he chose this magnificent location. Eleven new rooms, five huts and two teepees were built; new French balconies were installed in each room; the lakhang was renovated (wooden floor insulation, large windows) and the center is now ready to host long term retreats.
To accomplish all this work, however, we needed to take out a loan of 120,000 Euros. This loan does not cover what is needed to cover Gomde’s daily running costs or the renovation work remaining to bring us into compliance with health and safety codes needed for the long term retreats and larger programs. In order to sustain this beautiful place for our sangha to host long retreats we need your support!
