This conference opens the Lithuanian season in France by highlighting identifiable cultural and artistic events in both France and Lithuania.
It invites us to reflect on shared experiences, through cultural epochs, artistic currents, creative innovations by minorities and memorial controversies that resonate across distant borders. Abolishing geographical distance, these shared experiences create challenges, discoveries and correspondences.
The discussion enables us to grasp the links between the ideas that have shaped the course of history, uniting the two countries. The topics covered include cultural aspects, democratic politics and questions of freedom, all of which are essential for Lithuania and France, and which nourish European values.
The conference will be held in French and Lithuanian, with simultaneous translation.
