DIDASKALIAS
· a workshop about impro and stage directions ·
Have you ever felt lost in the chaos of an improvised scene?
Managing all the elements of an impro can be overwhelming. That’s why, in this workshop, we’ll explore the different types of stage directions found in universal theatre and how they can be adapted to improvisational work to help us build dramaturgy collectively, easing the load on the performers on stage.
And what is a didaskalia?
Didaskalias (or stage directions) are the instructions written by the playwright in a play, providing information about various aspects of the performance, from the characters’ actions or intentions to the spatial creation of the scene.
With the help of this theatrical tool, we’ll discover new ways to share the management of all the elements in an improvised piece, giving us an external perspective and creative ways to add depth to our collective stories.
