ESN Bookclub - The Stranger
About
Join us for a cozy Bookclub afternoon as we dive into one of the most famous works of French literature: The Stranger by Albert Camus. We’ll gather in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy coffee, snacks, and good company while discussing this short but powerful novel. Whether you’ve read the book in detail or just want to listen and share your impressions, this is a space for open conversation, different perspectives, and meeting fellow international students who love books! THE STRANGER: The Stranger follows Meursault, a man living in French Algeria whose way of experiencing the world feels very different from what society expects. He moves through everyday life focused on simple physical realities, the sun, the sea, the heat, rather than emotions or big moral reflections. The novel explores how society reacts to someone who doesn’t express feelings or behave in the “normal” way. Through Meursault’s perspective, Camus introduces themes of absurdity, isolation, freedom, and the search for meaning in a world that doesn’t always offer clear answers.
