It's an epic Arctic road trip beginning in Rovaniemi — the official home of Santa Claus — and continuing through the wilderness of Finnish Lapland all the way to North Cape (Nordkapp), Norway, one of Europe's most spectacular northernmost destinations.

Meeting Time and Location:

Rovaniemi Airport / Accommodation in Rovaniemi

From 4:00 PM onwards on Friday

Participants can arrive at a suitable time and meet the guide either at Rovaniemi Airport or at the accommodation, depending on their arrival arrangements.

If you are arriving earlier, please let us know through the arrival information sheet shared closer to the trip so we can coordinate the relevant pickup arrangements.

Exact accommodation details will be provided in the dedicated WhatsApp group for confirmed participants.

Rovaniemi Airport is approximately 15–20 minutes by car/taxi from the accommodation.

Airport taxi is approximately €35, and we can help organise this if required.

Finishing Time and Location: Rovaniemi Airport

Anytime up to approximately 12:00 PM on Wednesday

If you have an earlier flight, we can arrange an earlier airport drop-off where possible.

Hiking Difficulty:

N/A – Hiking is completely optional.

This trip is primarily an Arctic road trip, cultural experience and Northern Lights adventure.

There may be short walks during excursions, but no long-distance hiking is required.

Arctic Winter Conditions

December in Finnish Lapland can be extremely cold.

Temperatures may reach approximately -20°C and potentially lower depending on weather conditions.

Participants must be prepared for genuine Arctic winter conditions.

Warm winter clothing, suitable footwear and proper cold-weather preparation are essential.

Northern Lights

Northern Lights sightings depend on solar activity, cloud cover and weather conditions.

Our guides will choose suitable locations based on forecasts and local knowledge, but no natural phenomenon can be guaranteed.

Our Northern Lights Guarantee applies as described above.

What Should I Bring?

Because this is a genuine Arctic winter adventure, preparation is extremely important.

Important: Dress in layers and be prepared to spend extended periods outdoors in sub-zero temperatures.

How to get to Rovaniemi?

WHAT IS THE DETAILED PLAN?

DAY 1 — ARRIVAL IN ROVANIEMI + NORTHERN LIGHTS

Travel from your home city to Rovaniemi and meet the guide at the airport or accommodation depending on your arrival time. Settle into your Arctic accommodation and meet the rest of the group. DAY 2 — SANTA CLAUS VILLAGE + ROVANIEMI + AURORA

After breakfast, we head to Santa Claus Village.

Cross the Arctic Circle and step into the magical Christmas atmosphere of Lapland.

Meet Santa Claus. Visit the Arctic Post Office. Explore the Christmas village. Take photographs at the Arctic Circle

Afterwards, discover Rovaniemi and its surroundings.

Enjoy some free time before dinner and another evening of Northern Lights hunting.

DAY 3 — ARCTIC ROAD TRIP TO KARIGASNIEMI

After breakfast and checkout, begin the spectacular drive north through Finnish Lapland.

The journey covers roughly 450 km, passing through vast Arctic wilderness.

Expect:

Snow-covered boreal forests. Arctic fells. Open winter landscapes. Possible reindeer sightings. Remote Arctic communities

Arrive in Karigasniemi, settle into the accommodation and enjoy the Arctic atmosphere.

Weather permitting, head out for another evening of Northern Lights hunting.

DAY 4 — NORTH CAPE: WHERE EUROPE ENDS

After breakfast, begin the epic road trip towards North Cape.

Travel through dramatic Arctic landscapes and make stops along the way at scenic locations and remote fishing villages where conditions allow.

At North Cape:

Photograph the iconic globe monument. Look across the Barents Sea. Visit the North Cape Visitor Centre & Museum. Discover the history of the region. Capture unforgettable Arctic views

After exploring North Cape, begin the return journey.

Stop for dinner along the way before another opportunity to search for the Northern Lights.

DAY 5 — ARCTIC WILDERNESS ROAD TRIP BACK TO ROVANIEMI

Begin the journey south through the spectacular landscapes of Finnish Lapland.

The landscape gradually changes from open Arctic tundra and remote fells into vast taiga forests.

Travel through some of the quietest and most remote areas of northern Finland.

The stretch around Pokka offers a particularly atmospheric Arctic road-trip experience, surrounded by forests, fells and untouched wilderness.

Return towards Rovaniemi.

Depending on weather, conditions and package selection, enjoy one final Northern Lights hunting experience.

DAY 6 — GOODBYE, LAPLAND!

After breakfast, check out and head towards Rovaniemi Airport.

If your flight is later in the day, there may be time for a final coffee, souvenir shopping or a short walk around Rovaniemi.

Then it's time to say goodbye to your fellow travellers and begin the journey home.
