A Nawakai in Japan is a sort of public live where some kinbakushi (rigger) are sharing with participants about their style, and they also try to share about their choice during the ties, explaining why they are doing this or this. During that evening, we will alternate, between talking, tying and socialization with other participants. Docvale will tie two different hashira sessions with both of his partners Roxanne & Nuances_de_cordes in order to give you a deeper point of view about this practice.  Hashira in Japanese means vertical beam. Traditional Japanese houses are built with wooden posts and beams. Some of the partitions are sliding doors, so when they are opened the beam become usable. Directly linked to the imagination of videos and photos of Kinbaku made in these traditional houses, Hashira Shibari has become a specific way of practising Kinbaku. Whether semi-suspended or suspended, technique and aesthetics on a hashira are very specific. From the point of view of sensations and emotions, it’s also a very special experience for people who are tied up.    About Docvale : Rigger and owner of Atelier Simonet, Paris. I started to perform and teach shibari in France and internationally in 2012. The psychological aspect of kinbaku being at the center of my practice, when I discovered Naka Akira's semenawa,in 2013, I decided to dedicate myself to it.   Thanks to an assiduous practice with my partners I managed to find a way towards my own style. The challenge for me is ambitious: to reclaim the values and aesthetics of my predecessors while bringing my own singularities. To synthetize my vision of kinbaku I would highlight these following issues and desires: "Revisiting the roots of kinbaku, always searching to deepen the intimate and emotional dimension, while integrating and developing more contemporary techniques on security and anatomy." Today my kinbaku is constantly evolving but always centered on my desire to better perceive and understand others.   Since 2018, I am in charge of Atelier Simonet in Paris, recognized in 2019 as an official Naka style studio by Naka Akira.    About Nuances de cordes :  Nuances de Cordes has been practising shibari since 2022. She discovered Naka Ryu by taking classes at the Simonet workshop with Docvale, first as a model, then as a rigger. Initially attracted by the aesthetics of this style, she is above all fascinated by the way emotions are released through the total abandon imposed by the constraint of the ropes and the intensity of the connection between a rigger and his model.    About Roxanne :  I discovered ropes in september 2023. My rope relationship help me realize the impact of rope's manipulation, body placement, contrasts in tying as ways to make it a dialogue between rigger and model. This silent and yet very clear new way of communication has been fascinating me ever since for the emotions I've been living through. I value a lot emotional and psychological security. I’m also tying which is helping me to understand things from a different perspective. Atelier Simonet, Rue Chapon, Aubervilliers, France Aurélien CHAON
