Human Cities: SMOTIES
As part of the 12th Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Etienne 2022, we are pleased to welcome the 10 European partners of the Human Cities - SMOTIES network from 20 to 23 April 2022.
Human Cities - SMOTIES: creative works with small and remote places is a European project that runs for four years from 2020 to 2024. It is a large-scale cooperation project supported by the European Commission under the Creative Europe programme.
Human Cities is a platform of interdisciplinary exchange created in 2006, that has evolved through themes, contents, successions of partners and leaders. Human Cities- SMOTIES is the successor to the Human Cities_Challenging the City Scale 2014- 2018 project, for which the Cité du design was the lead partner and which questioned the role of inhabitants in the co-creation of the contemporary city in order to improve the habitability of public spaces.
This new Human Cities - SMOTIES project is led by the Politecnico di Milano, which, together with the ten European partners (including the Cité du design), will examine creativity in remote or peripheral territories of urban metropolises.
