POP-KA is more than just a musical concept, it's a veritable revolution based on the roots of Guadeloupe and Martinique. Using Nèg-Mawon slave drums and Kalina shells (from the Caribbean), trumpeter and shell-maker Franck Nicolas has found the perfect alchemy combining jazz, ka and conch shells. He called this new style of music Jazz-Ka in 2002 in New York. To reach as many hearts and souls as possible, jazz-ka (instrumental music) was given a voice and became POP-KA.
