This is the ultimate hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy department of sustainability sending a message to you to optimize your way of traveling to not completely destroy your planet.
As interspatial being we know that space is big.
Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-boggling big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road from Flogsta to Uppsala central station, but that’s just peanuts to space.
Space is so big that it would be a shame not to visit a part of it. So, we think that an afternoon of hitchhiking might just be the right amount of time to start optimizing your way of traveling. And, you get to discover new places on this part of your planet you call Sweden.
If you think you will be up to the challenge of LIFTALOPPET - THE HITCHHIKING RACE through only a super minuscule tiny part of the Galaxy, then please read the following guidelines.

///General Concept///
The race will be held on Saturday the 1st of June, starting from Uppsala Central Station at 9:00am, where all the important informations will be shared, and bring you to a beautiful and secret destination about 300km away in the afternoon of the same day.
You will spend the night at this secret destination where traditional Swedish cabins, a jacuzzi, an international class party, a zero waste dinner and many other great surprises will be waiting for you.
On Sunday the 2nd, you'll wake up with a brunch and dropped at the nearest train station around 12pm by our private shuttle service. From there, you can either decide to hitchhike or take the train to get back to your normal life!

Once you make the right decision of signing up, you will either precise the name of your traveling mate when signing up or be assigned a travel companion to ease and hide the desperation you might face while waiting for the Swedes to pick you up.

///Destination, cabins, food and fun///
For your stay-over, our extensive research discovered some of your basic needs. That is why there will be zero waste food waiting for you, a great night of sleep in a traditional Swedish cabin, and a relaxing time in a sauna and hot tub. But we know you most prominent need is a good party, fear not because we are providing just that, we will give you a taste of our own intergalactic beats.
Canoe renting and other extra-activities will be possible at the destination for those who might be interested (not included in the registration price, more informations about extra-activities to come).

More than being the first team to reach the secret destination, the goal of this event is to allow you to discover the beautiful and sustainable way of traveling that is hitchhiking and spend an amazing day. Fairplay and good mood are the main words to describe this event so be cool and happy ;)
Exclusive facultative challenges will be possible to do during the race, each of them allowing you to subtract a time corresponding to the difficulty of these challenges and maybe make you win this intergalactic competition!!

And because we care, in case you end up being stuck on the side of the road and don't make it to the final destination before 7pm, our very own shuttle service will come to pick you up for 50 - 150 extra SEK depending where you are!
