Welcome to the 2nd edition of Little Belgium. After a blast of a première (312 participants), the 300km cycling event is happening again. We're going to consolidate and improve last year's formula, to build a durable annual event that is hugely enjoyable for Belgians, and eye-opening for foreign athletes. The itinerary will be roughly the same as last year, but checkpoints may vary.
What is Little Belgium?
An ultracycling ride with the shape of a perfect little Belgium on the 21st of July. Total distance: 300km, with 2950m of elevation. The GPS-guided route will take you around some of the most iconic places in Belgium, mostly via backroads (95% sealed roads, but also some serious chunks of gravel - be prepared). Four checkpoints are foreseen where you can rest and refresh your tired bodies, mostly in impressive heritage sites.
Due to a limited number of participants this year, there will be only 1 start location: Brussels' Mont des Arts. We recommend to start at 6:00, so you can end safely between 21:00 and 23:00.
Highlights
Brussels historical city centre, Leuven skyline, Hélécine castle, Marche-les-Dames, Mozet village, Maillen, Villers-la-Ville gothic abbey, Waterloo lion's mound, Gaasbeek castle, among many others.
Practically
Buy your ticket on this website (the sooner, the cheaper). The only option offered this year is the Light Package that includes insurance, photographer, use of the restrooms, checkpoint rental, repair material etc. This still includes a brunch at Hélécine and teatime with cake between the Villers-la-Ville ruins.
We prepare the event and send you the track in GPX, FIT and TCX format 1 week before the start. Study the route, and meet our team at one of both starting points on 21/07 at 6h00. No bracelet will be needed, you are on a guest list that is distributed to the different points on the itinerary. Safe journey to all!
