Kimiyo Ogawa, one of the few women in the world to master the bandoneon, has joined forces with the Montpellier-based Occitan group Mezcal Jazz Unit for a unique musical project.

 

Their collaboration, born from a chance encounter in Cambodia ten years ago, came to fruition during the global pandemic. This period of isolation has paradoxically given rise to a unique artistic exchange, where styles intersect and reinvent themselves.

 

With Distancia, an original composition by Kimiyo Ogawa, they explore a musical dialogue where the melancholy of the bandoneon blends with the bold improvisation of jazz.

 

This project transcends borders and celebrates the encounter between two musical worlds. It is led by an exceptional musician and a quartet renowned for its innovative spirit and international collaborations.
