Figure montante d’un jazz parmi les plus créatifs de sa génération, Jorge Vistel incarne une vision audacieuse et résolument moderne du métissage musical. Trompettiste virtuose, compositeur inspiré, il développe un langage unique où l’héritage afro-cubain dialogue avec les esthétiques les plus contemporaines du jazz. 

Cuban SongBook naît de la volonté de revisiter le répertoire traditionnel cubain à partir d’une perspective contemporaine. À travers de nouveaux arrangements, Jorge Vistel propose une relecture de chansons emblématiques telles que Chan Chan ou Tres Palabras, en explorant leurs structures, leurs harmonies et leurs possibilités expressives dans le langage du jazz actuel. Loin d’une simple réinterprétation, ce projet cherche à approfondir l’essence de ces œuvres, en respectant leur identité originale tout en les inscrivant dans un contexte ouvert à l’improvisation et au dialogue entre les musiciens. “Cuban Songbook” établit un pont entre la tradition et la création contemporaine, offrant une vision personnelle et actuelle d’un patrimoine musical universel.

A rising star among the most creative jazz musicians of his generation, Jorge Vistel embodies a bold and resolutely modern vision of musical fusion. A virtuoso trumpeter and inspired composer, he has developed a unique language in which Afro-Cuban heritage meets the most contemporary jazz aesthetics. A recent arrival in Paris, he is already making a big impression, distilling a gripping energy and a sound of rare intensity on the capital's stages.

Collaborating with such greats as Benny Golson, David Murray, Lewis Nash and Roy Hargrove, Jorge Vistel weaves a body of work that is both rooted in its roots and looking to the future. A pupil of Steve Coleman who came to prominence with Greg Osby, he embodies the generation of Cuban musicians for whom the island's rhythmic traditions have become the breeding ground for innovative musical explorations.

Each concert in this residency is a creation in itself, with Jorge Vistel presenting original works specially composed for the occasion, giving each performance a singular identity and renewed freshness.
