The Belgian Cello Encyclopedia grew out of a clear and deeply felt impulse: to bring neglected works, composers, and musical voices back into the light — voices that have shaped the history of the cello in Belgium, yet remain largely unheard.
In a world overflowing with sound, this project chooses slowness and attention. It creates space for listening, for transmission, and for a renewed conversation between past and present, through sound, image, research, and the living voices of performers and composers.
Like a forest, this repertoire is layered and interconnected. Some works stand in full light; others lie hidden beneath the surface. All are part of the same living landscape, waiting to be explored.
To preserve is to play again.
To document is to keep alive.
To share is to open what comes next.
