 Avec Ear Witness, Simon Spang-Hanssen réunit un quartet de jazz contemporain où écriture et improvisation se mêlent dans une esthétique libre et ouverte, nourrie de ses collaborations avec John Tchicai et Michel Portal. 

Élu « Personnalité de l’année » 2026 par le Tivoli Jazz Price, il est salué pour sa créativité, son énergie et son saxophone fougueux, résolument tourné vers l’avenir. 

Au piano, Mario Canonge, entre Martinique et Paris, mêle jeu percussif, jazz et influences caribéennes. À la basse, Linley Marthe, ancien membre du Joe Zawinul Syndicate, impose puissance, virtuosité et son singulier. À la batterie, Adriano Tenorio, nourri d’héritage brésilien et de collaborations européennes, apporte un jeu souple et profondément rythmique. Ensemble, ils développent un langage organique et cohérent, où chaque identité s’exprime, avec des extraits du nouvel album Seconds Ago de Simon Spang-Hanssen (sorti le 28 août 2026), et un hommage à Félix Sabal-Lecco.

With Ear Witness, Simon Spang-Hanssen has brought together a contemporary jazz quartet in which composition and improvisation blend within a free and open aesthetic, drawing on his collaborations with John Tchicai and Michel Portal.

Named ‘Personality of the Year’ for 2026 by the Tivoli Jazz Prize, he is acclaimed for his creativity, his energy and his fiery saxophone playing, which is resolutely forward-looking.

On piano, Mario Canonge, who divides his time between Martinique and Paris, blends percussive playing, jazz and Caribbean influences. On bass, Linley Marthe, a former member of the Joe Zawinul Syndicate, brings power, virtuosity and his own distinctive sound. On drums, Adriano Tenorio, drawing on his Brazilian heritage and European collaborations, brings a supple and deeply rhythmic style. Together, they develop an organic and coherent musical language, in which each individual’s identity is expressed, featuring tracks from Simon Spang-Hanssen’s new album *Seconds Ago* (released on 28 August 2026), and a tribute to Félix Sabal-Lecco.
