No other medieval composer has captured the public imagination as much as the famous 12th century abbess, Hildegard von Bingen, who was a visionary, mystic, political correspondent, healer and musician. Ensemble Caldemia adopts an authentic approach to singing her music, remaining entirely faithful to the original notation of her liturgical chants. We also put her chants into a 21st century context, performing new music inspired by her that enriches and enrobes her music and her poetry.
