On August 8, for the seventh year running, Les Amis du Château de Saveilles, in partnership with the Parisian company Opéra Clandestin, will once again enchant the old walls of the château for the pleasure of its local and tourist audiences.

 

“Un soir d'été à Saveilles” is a unique evening that immerses visitors in a festive and magical atmosphere, with the following program:

 

The Château de Saveilles presents “Raconte-moi Orphée aux enfers”, Jacques Offenbach's work adapted and staged by the Compagnie Opéra Clandestin.
This is a short version (1 h 15), sung and narrated, in the open air.
The show is open to all audiences.

In this reinterpretation of Orpheus, the hero is a husband tired of his wife Eurydice, who is capricious and often at odds with him. When Eurydice dies of a snake bite, Orpheus feels not grief, but relief. Public Opinion orders him to go and pray to Jupiter to be reunited with his wife.
At Olympus, he discovers disillusioned divinities looking forward to descending into the Underworld. There, Eurydice enjoys a lively, festive world, far from the mournful silence of lost souls. The Underworld is transformed into a frenzied feast of absurd situations and amorous intrigue.
