VISIT OF " LE CHATEAU DE BEYNAC" Book
Timezone :

LE CHATEAU DE BEYNAC, The Most Authentic Fortress in the Périgord.

Visiting the Château de Beynac means traveling through nine centuries of history.

It means immersing yourself completely in the History of France, within a monumental and exceptional fortress — a real one — following in the footsteps of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionheart, Simon de Montfort, and the Hundred Years’ War.
Everything is here!

Inside the Lord’s Residence, you will find an exhibition on “Beynac in the Time of Richard the Lionheart and Eleanor of Aquitaine”, as well as a fascinating film on the architecture and construction techniques of the castle.

Then, as you take the access ramp leading to the upper courtyard, you will enter the castle through the impressive Guards’ Hall, where weapons stand ready to repel invaders. Floor by floor, you will discover an outstanding collection of furniture, chests, and tapestries, the monumental and famous Hall of the States of Périgord, the mysterious Justice Hall of the Four Barons of Périgord, the Italian influence in the splendid Renaissance staircase, and the Music Room with its marvelous painted woodwork. Not to mention the gigantic Banquet Hall, which seems to await the arrival of troubadours!

At the very top of the castle lies the legendary chamber of Richard the Lionheart... and of course, the castle’s true treasure, open to every visitor: its unique and unforgettable panorama over the Dordogne Valley.

You cannot leave this magical place without visiting the castle’s incredible kitchen — a setting that will surely remind you of many legendary film scenes. From Les Visiteurs by Jean-Marie Poiré to La Fille de d’Artagnan by Bertrand Tavernier, Joan of Arc by Luc Besson, The Last Duel by Ridley Scott, and more recently Fortune of France by Christopher Thompson.

A visit to the Château de Beynac is an exceptional experience inside one of the most iconic castles of Périgord!

The entire Château de Beynac team wishes you a wonderful visit!

THE CHÂTEAU DE BEYNAC IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ALL YEAR ROUND*

At the exit of the castle, a specialized bookshop awaits you, offering a carefully curated selection of books for all ages and tastes, allowing you to extend your discovery of the Middle Ages.
