Removing Stains and Odors from Carpet with Home Remedies

- Grease. You can sprinkle starch or fine salt on the carpet stain. They will absorb the remaining grease. After that, the contaminated surface should be washed with water with ammonia added. Another effective remedy is chalk or talc. They are sprinkled on the grease, then the stain is covered with blotting paper and ironed.
- Coffee and tea. Freshly spilled drinks are removed with a highly absorbent cloth, and the remains are washed off with a soap solution. Old stains should be moistened with glycerin and left for 12 hours. After this, the area is treated with a soap solution.
- Blood. Fresh stains can be cleaned with cold water. If the stain does not come off, simple laundry soap can be used additionally.
- Juices and other colored liquids. They are removed using a powder-soda solution. The liquid is sprayed on the dirt and after some time is washed off with clean water.
- Odors. A simple dry method is to treat with soda. It absorbs odors well and is easily removed with a vacuum cleaner or brush. You can also use a soda solution (150 g per 5 liters of water). It is applied to the entire surface and removed after drying.
